The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), together with the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), has dismantled a major scam network operating across Thailand, arresting 30 suspects linked to a sophisticated call‑center fraud that cost one elderly victim her life savings of more than 12 million baht.
The arrests, carried out under warrants issued by the Criminal Court, followed coordinated raids at 30 locations in 11 provinces including Phuket, Nonthaburi, Saraburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Bangkok. Among those detained were Ms. Anisra, 25, Mr. Sattha, 54, and Mr. Ritthiporn, 30. Charges include membership in a secret society, organized fraud, forgery and use of fake government documents, computer crime, and money laundering.
The investigation began when the Anti‑Scam Coordination Center (ACSC) flagged suspicious financial activity in Phuket, where tens of millions of baht were being withdrawn daily. Further inquiries revealed links to a case in Kalasin province, where a senior woman was deceived by fraudsters posing as police officers from Nakhon Phanom. Threatened with false allegations of money laundering, she transferred her entire savings, totaling 12.2 million baht, to accounts controlled by the gang.
Authorities say the operation was directed by a Chinese mastermind.
