Phuket turned out in full force to celebrate the homecoming of “Nene Royal,” or Praew–Rattikan Amloy, a 16‑year‑old singer and guitarist who captured global attention on America’s Got Talent Season 21.
Governor Chotnirin Kerdsom, joined by Phuket Airport Director Monchai Tahanod, TAT Phuket Director Sirivan Singharach, government officials, private sector representatives, local residents, and media, gathered at Phuket International Airport to greet the young talent. In a symbolic gesture, the governor presented Nene with “Phuraya Inhaler,” a signature local product, as a keepsake from her hometown.
Nene’s journey on America’s Got Talent has been nothing short of remarkable. Her soulful voice and guitar skills won over audiences worldwide, culminating in a Golden Buzzer from judge Mel B during the Quarterfinals, a moment that propelled her into the season’s grand finale.
Beyond her musical talent, Nene proudly showcased Thai identity on the international stage by incorporating traditional Thai textiles into her performance outfits. Her modern reinterpretation of Thai fashion highlighted the beauty of local culture while bringing Phuket’s name to global audiences.
The homecoming was marked by a wave of community pride. Local organizations and residents prepared banners, vinyl signs, and LED displays to welcome her back. The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Phuket office added a creative touch with a “Welcome Home, Nene!” projection mapping on the Charter Bank building in Phuket Old Town.
This celebration was more than a personal welcome, it was a collective statement of support for the new generation, a showcase of Phuket’s cultural identity, and a reminder of the province’s potential to shine on the world stage.
