Hua Hin-
Police have arrested a 67‑year‑old South Korean national, identified as Mr. Han, on charges of large‑scale fraud involving real estate investments. The arrest was carried out by the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) at a luxury residence in Hin Lek Fai, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, following a warrant issued by the Criminal Court on October 16th, 2024.

Authorities revealed that since 2020, Han and his associates persuaded fellow South Koreans to invest in condominiums and land in Cha‑am, Phetchaburi, and Hua Hin. Victims initially purchased a condominium worth 8.4 million baht, transferring funds to a company linked to Han’s former wife.

Later, Han convinced investors to establish Han Korea Co., Ltd., claiming they would hold shares and rights in property investments. Believing the scheme, victims transferred an additional 89 million baht. Investigations later confirmed that no actual investments were made, prompting victims to file complaints with Thailand’s Economic Crime Suppression Division.

Police estimate initial damages at 97.4 million baht. Further inquiries uncovered three additional fraud cases connected to Han, raising total losses to more than 147 million baht. Authorities also confirmed that Han faces nine pending criminal cases in South Korea.
During the arrest, Han admitted he was the subject of the warrant and had not previously been detained. He has been handed over to investigators at the Economic Crime Suppression Division for prosecution under Thai law.
