Phuket –
Phuket Governor Chotinrin Kerdsom has disclosed preliminary findings from an ongoing investigation into the Chabad House in Patong, revealing that the operation is linked to two related companies with combined assets of approximately 261.58 million baht and a total of six branches across the province.
According to the governor, provincial authorities have identified two legal entities belonging to the same business network. Both maintain offices in Cherng Talay, Thalang. In addition to these offices, investigators found four more branches operating within Phuket, bringing the overall total to six locations.
The provincial administration is currently examining the full scope of related activities. These include real estate operations, tour businesses, and other commercial ventures. Officials are also reviewing company registrations, operating licenses, and compliance with relevant regulations in response to public complaints and concerns raised about the site.
On the matter of ownership structure, Governor Chotinrin stated that a detailed review is still underway. Preliminary information indicates that the two companies have three principal directors: two Thai nationals and one Israeli national. Authorities will assess whether the shareholding arrangements and business operations comply with Thai law.
“We must examine every aspect carefully to determine whether any legal violations have occurred,” the governor said. “Our approach is based strictly on the law and the facts of each case. The investigation is comprehensive and not limited to any single issue.”
Phuket provincial authorities stated that the probe into Chabad House Patong will consider all relevant factors, including building use, land utilization, business licensing, shareholding structures, and the nature of activities conducted at the premises.
Priority will be given to public safety, order, and the suitability of operations within the local context. This approach aligns with the province’s earlier commitment, announced after an on-site inspection on 15 September, to gather complete information before reaching any conclusions.
