A sub-committee of the CCSA, following a previous committee from the Ministry of Public Health, has given approval to move on a proposal to reduce quarantine from fourteen days to ten days for tourists coming on special tourism visa’s from low risk countries.

The sub-committee, although approving the notion, specifically only mentioned STV and not other visa types. The Pattaya News notes that it is possible that other visa types, such as foreigners returning on a work permit, could be included, but would still have to meet the criteria of being a low risk country.
Public Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Kiattiphum Wongrajit made the announcement to the general press yesterday but stressed that the main Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) committee led by Prime Minister Prayut Chan O’Cha would need to make any final approval on the proposal. Kiattiphum did not state when the proposal would be debated and if it would be at scheduled meetings early next week.
The proposal would also likely limit the provinces that a tourist could visit after their ten day quarantine and they would still be required to wear a smart band for tracking purposes. Chonburi, however, where Pattaya is located, would likely be one of the provinces that tourists could visit according to Kiattiphum.
The proposal is based on results of medical trials that state that there is almost no risk after ten days for someone to spread or have the Covid-19 virus and the little risk they had could be negated with smart bands and tracking technology.
The Pattaya News will give further updates on this as material is released. It is important to note that this remains only a proposal and is not yet finalized.
