Couple placed under arrest in Bangkok for allegedly smuggling one million meth pills to Southern provinces

Bangkok –

A Thai couple was arrested last week at a gas station in Bangkok for allegedly smuggling one million pills of methamphetamine in a private car while attempting to deliver them to a client in the Southern province.

Weerasak Jedhun, 28, and Jutharat Daengnoi, 29, were captured following an expanding investigation of a previous drug arrest in Nonthaburi, in which the police seized about one million methamphetamine pills and 15 kilograms of crystal methamphetamines, according to the Patrol and Special operation Division announcement yesterday, December 1.

The arrest took place after the special division received a tip-off that the drug smuggling from the similar network would be organized again on November 28. The couple was caught on that day, with a total of 1,000,000 tablets of methamphetamine, 3 mobile phones, and a white subcompact car.

They both allegedly admitted that they were hired for 3 months and paid about 50,000 baht per time for driving from Patthalung province to the capital to smuggle a huge amount of illegal drugs before taking them back to the province and distributing them to several clients in the South.

The initial investigation also revealed that Weerasak was a truck driver and was accused of being involved in four drug cases, including one where he claimed that he was framed with a meth pill in his pocket by a police officer in Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Police Major General Samran Nuanma, commander of the Patrol and Special Operations Division, told the press that the investigation against Weerasak’s accusation will still be further investigated. Meanwhile, both of them were detained at the division for legal proceedings and initially charged for jointly possessing narcotics category 1; methamphetamine.
