Rayong authorities and public health officials announced new high control measures in four more districts and placed two other districts under high surveillance, following a rapidly increasing number of Covid-19 domestic cases of 148 confirmed patients connected to a large second cluster of infections that originated from an illegal gambling warehouse.
These measures were announced at a press conference this afternoon held by the Rayong governor.
The high control measures are applicable in Ban Chang District, Klaeng District, Ban Khai District and Nikhom Phatthana District while the other two districts, Pluak Daeng District and Wang Chan District, are considered the highest surveillance area. The highest control area is located at Mueang District.
Schools, service establishments, pubs, bars, entertainment venues in the province, massage parlors, game centers, internet cafes, beauty institutions, public parks, libraries, playgrounds are closed in seven districts.
Shopping malls and retail will also be closed but supermarkets, drug stores, and other necessities such as Banks, mobile phone shops, and Government offices will remain open. Restaurants are take away only and selling alcoholic beverages at the place is strongly prohibited.
Rayong governor Channa Iamsaeng also encouraged both migrant workers and residents not to travel in and out of the province. Rayong natives living in different provinces are strongly advised not to return to the province during the New Year season.
