All ten Thai Cabinet Ministers involved in a no-confidence debate survived a vote at Parliament this morning by members of Parliament who were voting whether or not they had confidence in the Prayut Chan O’Cha led Government.
All ten ministers, including PM Prayut Chan O’Cha, survived the vote and were given a majority vote of confidence.
The Ministers and Cabinet members involved in the debate, which was called by the Government opposition parties, were as follows: General Prayut Chan-o’Cha, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Public Health, Mr. Jurin Laksan Wisit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Gen. Anupong Phaochinda, Minister of Interior Affairs, Mr. Natthapol Theepsuwan, Minister of Education, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Labor, Mr. Sak Siam Chidchob, Minister of Transport, Mr. Nipon Boonyamanee Deputy Minister of Interior and Lt. Thamanat Prompao Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
The minister with the least amount of support was the Education Minister, who has had significant criticism over the alleged lack of student education reform and improvement, although he survived the overall vote. The minister with the most support was Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
Government analysts widely predicted the government would survive the vote despite days of fierce debate over various topics ranging from alleged corruption, Covid-19, response to protests, police promotions, vaccine allocations, and distribution, the economy, and other topics.
Pro-democracy protesters are planning a “major” protest this afternoon, although their exact protest location as of press time had not been posted on social media. Thai law enforcement has blockaded parts of the city, especially near the Grand Palace, to avoid potential protesting or marching in the area. Thousands of riot police are also deployed in the area today.
