The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) announced today, May 7th, more thunderstorms with gusty winds and isolated heavy rains are forecast in most parts of Thailand over the weekend.
Today, a high-pressure system from China, along with southerly and southeasterly winds and a westerly trough from Myanmar, are entering and bringing moisture to upper Thailand, including the lower North, the Northeast, and the Central regions including Bangkok and its vicinity, causing thunderstorms with gusty winds in the area.
Possible hail and isolated heavy rains are also forecast in the North while isolated heavy rains are expected in the South as the southeasterly winds prevail across the Gulf of Thailand, the South, and the Andaman Sea.
During 8 – 12 May, increasing temperature and heat during the day are likely to occur in the upper country. Upper Thailand will see decreasing thundershowers but isolated gusty wind is still forecasted. Southeasterly winds prevail across the Gulf of Thailand, the South, and the Andaman Sea with thundershowers.
People in upper Thailand should beware of the severe conditions by avoiding outdoor places, big trees, unsecured buildings, and billboards, people especially in the Northern region should beware of flash floods. Farmers should prepare for crop damage.
