Want to travel to Phuket domestically in Thailand? New measures are NOW in effect

The following is a press release from the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Their statements are their own.

Bangkok, 12 July 2021 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to provide an update on the requirements needed for domestic travel to Phuket, for both Thais and foreigners, as announced in the Phuket Provincial Order Number 3860/2564.

Effective from 15-31 July 2021 for domestic travel to Phuket from NON Dark Red or Red provinces via the Tha Chatchai mainland gateway, marinas, piers, and the airport (domestic terminal), travelers must have the following:

  • Received a COVID-19 vaccination: two full doses of an approved vaccine or one dose of AstraZeneca at least 14 days before arrival.

Or

  • Have recovered from COVID-19 for less than 90 days or have received a negative test by an RT-PCR or Rapid Antigen test no more than 7 days before traveling.

Travelers from the following provinces:

Maximum and Strict Controlled Area or ‘dark-red zone’ provinces: Bangkok, and the five surrounding provinces – Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, and Samut Sakhon – as well as four Southern Thai provinces – Narathiwat, Pattani, Songkhla, and Yala.

Maximum Controlled Area or ‘red zone’ provinces: Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Chachoengsao, Chainat, Chon Buri (Home of Pattaya), Kanchanaburi, Krabi, Lop Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Sawan, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phetchaburi, Prachin Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ranong, Ratchaburi, Rayong, Samut Songkhram, Saraburi, Sing Buri, Suphan Buri, Tak, and Uthai Thani.

  • Must be fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine or have received one dose of AstraZeneca at least 14 days before traveling or have recovered from COVID-19 for less than 90 days

And

  • Have received a negative test by an RT-PCR or Rapid Antigen test no more than 7 days before traveling.

All visitors to Phuket must comply with the following:

  • Download and install the ‘Mor Chana’ application and turn on the share location function at all times.
  • Be able to provide the above-mentioned documentation to the Health Office at the point of entry to Phuket.
  • Must self-monitor for any unusual symptoms and contact a local hospital if unsure.

Students under 18-years old who are unable to be vaccinated but need to commute in and out of Phuket for education must contact their educational institutions to receive an identification card. The RT-PCR test result can be used up to 1 month from the test date.
