RECAP: Thailand reports 18,027 daily Covid-19 infections with 133 additional deaths

Thailand discovered a total of 18,027 daily Covid-19 infections with 133 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, August 1st.

The fatalities were 78 men and 55 women from Bangkok (61), Samut Prakan (18), Nonthaburi (7), Samut Sakhon (5), Pattani (5), Udon Thani (5), Narathiwas (4), Nakhon Pathom (4), Nakhon Sawan (3), Chonburi (3), Prachinburi (2), Nakhon Si Thammarat (1), Khon Kaen (1), Chaiyaphom (1), Nakhon Panom (1), Yasothon (1), Si Saket (1), Ubon Ratchathani (1), Surin (1), Amnat Charoen (1), Mae Hong Son (1), Sukothai (1), Rayong (1), Chanthaburi (1), and Chachoengsao (1). The age range was between 5 and 96 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, obesity, stroke, heart disease, lung disease, and cancer. Five of the fatalities were bedridden patients and the other ten did not reportedly have any health conditions.

Of the new cases, 15,137 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 2,514 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 374 were from prisons, and the remaining 2 were imported cases.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,899, followed by Samut Sakhon with 1,259, Chonburi with 1,147, Samut Prakan with 1,113, Nonthaburi with 723, and Nakhon Pathom with 426.

A total number of 194,342 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 162,737 people had received their first shot and 31,605 people had received their second shots.

As of today, 13,402 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 615,314 cases with 405,322 recoveries and a total of 4,990 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
