RECAP: Thailand reports 17,970 daily Covid-19 infections with 178 additional deaths, 180,552 new vaccinated people reported nationwide in the past 24 hours

Thailand discovered a total of 17,970 daily Covid-19 infections with 178 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, marking another new fatality high record, CCSA assistant spokesperson announced today, August 2nd.

The fatalities were 94 men and 84 women from Bangkok (68), Samut Prakan (23), Nakhon Ratchasima (10), Pathum Thani (9), Suphanburi (8), Samut Sakhon (8), Pattani (6), Kampangpetch (5), Trat (5), Nakhon Pathom (4), Chonburi (3), Songkhla (3), Udonthani (2), Ubon Ratchathani (2), Surin (2), Lampang (2), Uthaithani (2), Rayong (2), Nakhon Nayok (2), Pang Nga (1), Satun (1), Nakhon Panom (1), Roi Et (1), Phitsanulok (1), Phetchabun (1), Sukothai (1), Chanthaburi (1), Prachinburi (1), Chachoengsao (1), Phetchaburi (1), and Sa Kaew (1). The age range was between 17 and 94 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, obesity, heart disease, lung disease, and stroke. Six of the fatalities were bedridden patients, one was pregnant, and 25 of them reportedly did not have any health conditions.

Of the new cases, 13,567 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 4,217 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 175 were from prisons, and the remaining 11 were imported cases.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,144, followed by Samut Sakhon with 1,252, Chonburi with 1,141, Samut Prakan with 872, Nonthaburi with 473, and Saraburi with 486.

A total number of 180,552 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 152,171 people had received their first shot and 28,381 people had received their second shots.

As of today, 13,919 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 633,284 cases with 419,241 recoveries and a total of 5,168 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
