Thailand discovered a total of 19,603 daily Covid-19 infections with 149 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA assistant spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced today, August 9th.
The fatalities were 84 men and 65 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 54. Of that 140 were Thai nationals, six were from Myanmar, and each one was Cambodian, Norwegian, and American nationals. The age range was between 4 months and 103 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, and obesity. Eight of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 16,119 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 3,159 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 313 were from prisons, and the remaining 12 were imported cases.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,114, followed by Samut Prakan with 1,388, Samut Sakhon with 1,378, Chonburi with 1,318, Nonthaburi with 803, and Pathum Thani with 708.
A total number of 191,145 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 143,071 people had received their first shots, 23,693 people had received their second shots, and 24,381 people had received their third shots.
As of today, 19,819 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 776,108 cases with 555,334 recoveries and a total of 6,353 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
