RECAP: Thailand finds 20,128 daily Covid-19 infections with 239 additional deaths, 508,498 new vaccinated people reported nationwide in the past 24 hours

Thailand discovered a total of 20,128 daily Covid-19 infections with 239 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration reported today, August 17th.

The fatalities were 120 men and 119 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 79. Of that, 235 were Thai nationals, three were Myanmar nationals and one was a Chinese national. The age range was between 22 and 105 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, and obesity. Six of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 16,349 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 3,497 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 272 were from prisons, and the remaining 10 were imported cases.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 4,937, followed by Samut Sakhon with 1,843, Samut Prakan with 1,200, Chonburi with 1,182, Nonthaburi with 983, and Ayutthaya with 454.

A total number of 508,498 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 374,171 people had received their first shots, 118,681 people had received their second shots, and 15,646 people had received their third shots.

As of today, 20,791 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 948,442 cases with 730,437 recoveries and a total of 7,973 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
