RECAP: Thailand finds 9,869 daily Covid-19 infections with 92 additional deaths

Thailand discovered a total of 9,869 daily Covid-19 infections with 92 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, October 5th.

The fatalities were 38 men and 54 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 23. 89 of them were Thai nationals and three were Myanmar nationals. The age range was between 33 and 97 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (54), diabetes (40), hyperlipidemia (29), obesity (17), and kidney disease (19). Three of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 8,715 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 864 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 273 were from prisons, and the remaining 17 were imported cases.

A number of 108,373 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 3,013 patients are in critical condition including 701 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.78 percent of cases that are critical while 23.2 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,224, followed by Samut Prakan with 577, Chonburi with 555, Pattani with 530, Songkhla with 468, and Narathiwat with 461.

A total number of 770,947 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 255,607 people had received their first shots, 465,460 people had received their second shots, and 49,880 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 46.1% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 29.4% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 2.1% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 11,152 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,657,231 cases with 1,531,655 recoveries and a total of 17,203 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
