Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha yesterday, November 7th, has ordered relevant Thai agencies to improve the “Thailand Pass” system after multiple applicants reportedly did not receive the QR Code for checking in.
Government spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana told the Associated Press that the Prime Minister had acknowledged the problem that some registered travelers of the “Thailand Pass” system did not receive or receive the QR Code later than usual.
“The Prime Minister, therefore, ordered relevant agencies to speed up the improvement of the system in order to provide proper more convenient service to the travelers, including Thai people who planned to return home and foreign visitors who wished to travel to Thailand for tourism or work purposes,” the spokesperson stated.
According to the officials, the QR Code delay problems may occur for several reasons, such as uploading unclear vaccination documents which would cause a longer time to process and verify by officials rather than by the system, or filling out and/or attaching documents that did not match the specified list, or the hotel name was not the same as listed in the hospital undergoing RT-PCR testing.
The most common problems also included entering the wrong email address, resulting in the failed delivery of the QR Code. TPN media notes that, overall, the Thai government did not say that there was any blame or fault on their end for the delay of QR codes, but blamed nearly the entire issue on user error.
Thanakorn also reported that a total of 90,165 people have been registered for the “Thailand Pass” system, as of November 6th. Of that, about 33,788 applicants have already been approved.
