The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) today, November 11th, has issued a warning of possible flash floods, high water levels, and flooding in particular areas nationwide.
According to the announcement, the areas at high risk of flash floods are mostly in Southern Thailand, including Chumphon (Lamae, Sawi Pathiu, Tha Sae, Mueang District), Surat Thani (Donsak and Tha Chana District), Nakhon Si Thammarat (Sichon, Muang, Lan Saka, Nopphitam, Tha Sala District), Songkhla (Mueang District), and Narathiwat (Rueso District)
The surveillance areas for possible overflowing and flooding include three regions of the Northeast, the Central, and the South.
Northeastern areas include Nong Bua Lamphu (Non Sang District), Maha Sarakham (Kosum Phisai, Kantharawichai, Mueang District), Kalasin (Kamalasai District), Nakhon Ratchasima (Non Sung and Phimai District), and Ubon Ratchathani (Mueang and Warin Chamrap District).
Central areas include Lop Buri (Ban Mee and Muang District), Suphan Buri (Bang Pla Ma, and Song Phi Nong District), Ang Thong (Muang Chaiyo, Pa Mok, Wisetchaichan District), Ayutthaya (Phakhai, Sena, Bang Ban, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Bang Sai, Bang Pa-in, Lat Bua Luang District), Nakhon Pathom (Bang Len, Nakhon Chai Si Sampran, Kamphaeng Saen, Don Tum District), Pathum Thani (Mueang and Sam Khok District), Phetchaburi (Ban Lat, Mueang, Ban Laem District).
Southern’s Phra Saeng District of Surat Thani and Mueang District of Nakhon Si Thammarat are also under surveillance of the flood situation.
Areas near the end of Chao Praya and other main rivers and coastal plains are at risk of water overflowing, especially in Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Nonthaburi, Bangkok, Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Pattani, and Narathiwat.
Residents are highly encouraged to closely monitor and keep aware of updates on the latest situation from the Department. People in the high-risk area should be cautious when driving and traveling. Local residents living ashore should beware of strong waves and sail cautiously. Small boats are advised to keep ashore.
