RECAP: Thailand reports 5,857 daily Covid-19 infections with 55 additional deaths today

Thailand discovered a total of 5,857 daily Covid-19 infections with 55 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, November 24th.

The fatalities were 33 men and 22 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 13. 53 of them were Thai nationals and two five of them were unidentified. The age range was between 42 and 100 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (29), diabetes (23), hyperlipidemia (12), obesity (2), and kidney disease (9). Four of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 5,349 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 269 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 228 were from prisons, and the remaining 11 were imported cases.

A number of 81,577 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,529 patients are in critical condition including 358 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.87 percent of cases that are critical while 23.4 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 734, followed by Songkhla with 426, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 290, Chiang Mai with 245, Surat Thani with 237, and Samut Prakan with 235. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 205 daily infections today.

A total number of 557,392 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 197,148 people had received their first shots, 320,501 people had received their second shots, and 39,743 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 65.3% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 55.1% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 4.4% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 7,318 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,081,992 cases with 1,979,871 recoveries and a total of 20,544 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
