Thailand discovered a total of 6,559 daily Covid-19 infections with 64 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, November 26th.
The fatalities were 29 men and 35 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok and Chiang Mai with 8 each. 62 of them were Thai nationals, one of each was a Chinese and Russian national. The age range was between 22 and 93 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (31), diabetes (20), hyperlipidemia (11), obesity (5), and kidney disease (13). Three of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 5,543 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 225 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 752 were from prisons, and the remaining 39 were imported cases.
A number of 80,277 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,440 patients are in critical condition including 341 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.79 percent of cases that are critical while 23.6 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 609, followed by Songkhla with 457, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 457, Surat Thani with 287, Samut Prakan with 214, and Pattani with 203. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 202 daily infections today.
A total number of 266,114 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 98,118 people had received their first shots, 146,673 people had received their second shots, and 21,323 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 65.7% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 55.8% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 4.4% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 6,875 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,094,886 cases with 1,993,964 recoveries and a total of 20,645 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
