Thailand discovered a total of 3,398 daily Covid-19 infections with 23 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 13th.
The fatalities were 14 men and 9 women with the most numbers recorded with 2 deaths in Bangkok, Lampang, Trang, Satul, and Chonburi. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 43 and 87 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (14), diabetes (10), hyperlipidemia (6), obesity (4), and kidney disease (4). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 3,368 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 8 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 2 were from prisons, and the remaining 20 were imported cases.
A number of 49,524 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,061 patients are in critical condition including 307 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.14 percent of cases that are critical while 28.9 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 604, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 200, Songkhla with 150, Samut Prakan with 137, Chonburi with 129, and Surat Thani with 118.
A total number of 81,367 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 21,685 people had received their first shots, 35,659 people had received their second shots, and 24,023 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 69.3% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 60.2% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 5.8% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 5,467 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,172,044 cases with 2,101,326 recoveries and a total of 21,194 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
