Thailand discovered a total of 8,078 daily Covid-19 infections with 22 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, January 27th.
The fatalities were 12 men and 10 women. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 46 months and 96 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (10), diabetes (6), hyperlipidemia (3), obesity (0), and kidney disease (4). Four of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 7,772 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 44 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 37 were from prisons, and the remaining 225 were imported cases.
A number of 82,760 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 548 patients are in critical condition including 102 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.66 percent of cases that are critical while 18.6 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,427, followed by Samut Prakan with 692, Nonthaburi with 460, Chonburi with 334, Phuket with 332, and Khon Kaen with 247.
A total number of 440,671 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 44,412 people had received their first shots, 74,003 people had received their second shots, and 322,256 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 75.0% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 69.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 18.8% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 6,595 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,407,022 cases with 2,302,164 recoveries and a total of 22,098 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
