18-year-old Thai woman found dead in plastic container and dumped in abandoned field in Suphan Buri

An autopsy revealed the cause of death as suffocation and injury for a 18-year-old Thai woman who was killed and dumped in a plastic container and left in an abandoned field near a construction camp in the Muang District of Suphan Buri on Friday, February 4th.

The half-naked body of Sumita was found in the large container on Friday following the search of her presence as Sumita reportedly went missing since January 30th, according to her father Prasan.

The police then took the body for an autopsy and began the investigation. A prime suspect, only revealed to the press as Thanakorn, 19, was arrested on the following day in Kalasin.

He told the officials that both were having a romantic relationship but he already had a family. Sumita reportedly urged them to announce thier relationship but he disagreed before they ended up in an argument which eventually led to the crime.

However, the victim’s father did not believe the suspect’s allegations, saying that his daughter was already in a serious relationship with a Lao man for six months and was planning to get married. He also stated that Sumitra never mentioned the name of the suspect to the family and believed that she did not know the man as she always told them about everything through phone calls every day.

As of 3:30 PM. of Saturday, the autopsy results from the Institute of Forensic Medicine of Police hospital revealed that the primary cause of death was unnatural death due to suffocation or injury.

The officials also examined Thanakorn’s and the victim’s rooms and found a broken green plastic container tucked in an abandoned bathroom next to the stairs of the suspect’s dorm. According to the police, the container was broken as if it was stuffed by some heavy objects until it broke. Inside, a piece of bra strap was also found.

Thanakorn was detained at Mueang Suphan Buri Police Station for futher interrogation.
