Thailand discovered a total of 10,398 daily Covid-19 infections with 17 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, February 8th.
The fatalities were 7 men and 10 women. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 25 and 99 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (7), diabetes (6), hyperlipidemia (2), obesity (3), and kidney disease (4). Three of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 10,147 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 30 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 19 were from prisons, and the remaining 202 were imported cases.
A number of 94,243 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 527 patients are in critical condition including 111 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.55 percent of cases that are critical while 21.0 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,897, followed by Samut Prakan with 983, Chonburi with 610,Nonthaburi with 578, Phuket with 399, and Nakhon Ratchasima with 341.
A total number of 385,190 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 21,782 people had received their first shots, 31,719 people had received their second shots, and 331,689 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 75.5% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 70.4% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 23.0% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 8,922 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,517,869 cases with 2,401,306 recoveries and a total of 22,320 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
