RECAP: Thailand reports 13,182 daily Covid-19 infections with 24 additional deaths

Thailand discovered a total of 13,182 daily Covid-19 infections with 24 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, February 9th.

The fatalities were 13 men and 11 women with the highest number reported in Bangkok with 6. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 32 and 95 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (11), diabetes (8), hyperlipidemia (8), obesity (2), and kidney disease (4).

Of the new cases, 12,933 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 70 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 40 were from prisons, and the remaining 139 were imported cases.

A number of 98,830 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 547 patients are in critical condition including 111 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.55 percent of cases that are critical while 20.2 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,757, followed by Samut Prakan with 1,133, Chonburi with 641, Nonthaburi with 560, Phuket with 425, and Samut Sakhon with 366.

A total number of 509,843 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 38,732 people had received their first shots, 48,034 people had received their second shots, and 423,077 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 75.6% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 70.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 23.6% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 8,571 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,531,051 cases with 2,409,877 recoveries and a total of 22,344 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
