Thailand reported a total of 21,881 daily Covid-19 infections with 59 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, March 6th.
The fatalities were 32 men and 27 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 8. 58 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 32 and 96 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (2), obesity (1), and kidney disease (17). Three of the fatalities were bedridden patients and one was reportedly deceased at home.
Of the new cases, 21,508 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 152 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 87 were from prisons, and the remaining 134 were imported cases.
A number of 232,521 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,145 patients are in critical condition including 366 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.49 percent of cases that are critical while 31.9 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,170, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 980, Samut Prakan with 888, Chonburi with 883, Nakhon Ratchasima with 723, and Pathum Thani with 707.
A total number of 183,894 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 60,512 people had received their first shots, 18,078 people had received their second shots, and 105,304 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 77.5% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.7% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 30.3% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 21,448 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,026,695 cases with 2,770,989 recoveries and a total of 23,235 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
