RECAP: Thailand announces 22,984 daily Covid-19 infections with 74 additional deaths

Thailand reported a total of 22,984 daily Covid-19 infections with 74 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, March 10th.

The fatalities were 40 men and 34 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 12. 72 of them were Thai nationals and one of each was a Swedish and Myanmar national. The age range was between 26 and 97 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (9), kidney disease (13), obesity (4), stroke (9), and heart disease (13). Six of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 22,722 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 163 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 52 were from prisons, and the remaining 47 were imported cases.

A number of 220,334 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,238 patients are in critical condition including 420 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.56 percent of cases that are critical while 33.9 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,192, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,228, Chonburi with 987, Samut Prakan with 972, Nonthaburi with 794, and Samut Sakhon with 759.

A total number of 171,790 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 62,311 people had received their first shots, 18,474 people had received their second shots, and 91,005 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 77.8% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.8% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 30.7% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 24,161 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,111,857 cases with 2,868,011 recoveries and a total of 23,512 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
