Thailand reported a total of 23,584 daily Covid-19 infections with 66 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, March 13th.
The fatalities were 40 men and 26 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 14. 64 of them were Thai nationals and one of each was an British and a Myanmar national. The age range was between 4 months and 97 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (2), kidney disease (16), obesity (2), stroke (7), and heart disease (17). Five of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 23,323 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 94 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 100 were from prisons, and the remaining 67 were imported cases.
A number of 227,336 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,319 patients are in critical condition including 438 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.58 percent of cases that are critical while 33.2 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,967, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,438, Chonburi with 1,191, Samut Prakan with 890, Nonthaburi with 868, and Samut Sakhon with 809.
A total number of 224,331 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 87,257 people had received their first shots, 19,565 people had received their second shots, and 117,509 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 78.2% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.9% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 31.2% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 22,333 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,184,825 cases with 2,933,780 recoveries and a total of 23,709 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
