Son of former senior deputy national police chief crashes into and kills Pakistani motorcyclist in Bangkok on Saturday

Bangkok –

A Pakistani motorcyclist was pronounced dead yesterday, March 12th, after being hit by a supercar driven by the son of a former deputy national police chief near Saphan Taksin Bridge in Bangkok.

The accident reportedly occurred around 1:00 AM. Saturday morning as the Porsche Taycan Turbo S driven by Pornmet Songmetta, son of Police General Wirachai Songmetta, crashed into the Yamaha motorcycle driven by 40-year-old Pakistani refugee Waseem Ahmad.

Police Captain Thamnong Montha, Deputy Inspector from the Samrae Police Station, said that the motorcyclist had suffered from a head injury as his head was bumping onto the windshield while the Porsche driver sustained head and face injuries from hitting the steering wheel during the crash. Both of them were delivered to nearby hospitals. However, Waseem was pronounced dead later on the same day.

Pornmet reportedly admitted to the officials for his careless driving as he was making a sudden lane change, resulting in the fatal incident.

Results of his health examination as well as his alcohol blood test was being issued. Meanwhile, the police were expected to charge the driver for reckless driving causing death, according to the Deputy Inspector.
