Thailand reported a total of 25,456 daily Covid-19 infections with 77 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, March 17th.
The fatalities were 33 men and 34 women with the highest rate in Bangkok with 19. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 49 and 98 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (5), kidney disease (16), obesity (8), stroke (5), and heart disease (12). Four of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 24,889 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 474 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 54 were from prisons, and the remaining 39 were imported cases.
A number of 225,134 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,402 patients are in critical condition including 504 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.62 percent of cases that are critical while 35.9 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,703, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,688, Chonburi with 1,231, Samut Sakhon with 1,108, Samut Prakan with 874, and Songkhla with 692.
A total number of 181,854 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 71,924 people had received their first shots, 19,323 people had received their second shots, and 90,607 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 78.5% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.9% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 31.6% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 22,217 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,276,098 cases with 3,026,969 recoveries and a total of 23,995 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
