Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha was delighted after Bangkok was ranked the first of the best cities in DestinAsian Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards 2022.
Government spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana revealed to the press that the Prime Minister had acknowledged and was pleased to know that international readers of the DestinAsian Magazine had voted Bangkok as number one in the Best Cities category in Asia-Pacific Travel.
According to DestinAsian Magazine, Bangkok has been selected as the top of the Best Cities in the Reader’s Choice Awards 2022, followed by Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Seoul, respectively. The capital city of Thailand had previously won the category in 2020.
Moreover, Phuket and Koh Samui were respectively ranked in third and fourth place in the “Best Island” category after Bali and Maldives. Thailand’s major international airport, Suvarnabhumi, had also been chosen as the third-best airport while THAI’s Royal Orchid Plus program won 4th place in the ‘Best Frequent Flier Program’ award.
The spokesperson stated that Prayut and the government were pleased about the results as they were a reflection that Thailand was always loved by many tourists around the world.
“Despite the fact that the tourism industry around the world had been affected by the pandemic, Thailand would continue to adjust preventive measures in line with the Ministry of Public Health to build confidence among international visitors and facilitate them throughout their visit to Thailand,” Thanakorn added.
