Thailand reported a total of 25,164 daily Covid-19 infections with 80 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, March 23rd.
The fatalities were 42 men and 38 women with the highest rate in Bangkok with 12. 78 of them were Thai nationals, one was a Vietnamese national, and one was unidentified. The age range was between 2 months and 95 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (5), kidney disease (17), obesity (6), stroke (8), and heart disease (11). Eight of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 24,934 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 139 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 43 were from prisons, and the remaining 48 were imported cases.
A number of 237,128 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,496 patients are in critical condition including 562 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.63 percent of cases that are critical while 37.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,378, followed by Chonburi with 1,434, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,188, Samut Prakan with 869, Samut Sakhon with 732, and Songkla with 700.
A total number of 169,542 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 59,350 people had received their first shots, 16,865 people had received their second shots, and 93,327 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 79.0% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 72.1% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 32.4% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 24,770 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,423,956 cases with 3,162,331 recoveries and a total of 24,497 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
