Thailand reported a total of 27,024 daily Covid-19 infections with 82 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, March 24th.
The fatalities were 46 men and 36 women with the highest rate in Si Saket and Surat Thani with 5. 76 of them were Thai nationals, five were Myanmar nationals, and one was a British national. The age range was between 1 month and 95 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (3), kidney disease (23), obesity (9), stroke (6), and heart disease (12). Five of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 26,740 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 184 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 54 were from prisons, and the remaining 46 were imported cases.
A number of 240,349 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,553 patients are in critical condition including 583 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.64 percent of cases that are critical while 37.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,722, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,746, Chonburi with 1,341, Samut Prakan with 920, Songkla with 861, and Samut Sakhon with 849.
A total number of 204,171 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 71,997 people had received their first shots, 19,010 people had received their second shots, and 113,164 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 79.1% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 72.1% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 32.6% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 23,721 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,450,980 cases with 3,186,052 recoveries and a total of 24,579 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
