RECAP: Thailand announces 28,379 daily Covid-19 infections with 92 additional deaths

Thailand reported a total of 28,379 daily Covid-19 infections with 92 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, April 1st.

The fatalities were 50 men and 42 women with the highest rate in Bangkok with 7. 89 of them were Thai nationals and one of each was a Myanmar, Swedish, and American national. The age range was between 11 months and 97 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (5), kidney disease (20), obesity (2), stroke (13), and heart disease (9). 13 of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 28,148 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 105 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 64 were from prisons, and the remaining 62 were imported cases.

A number of 251,214 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,828 patients are in critical condition including 712 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.72 percent of cases that are critical while 38.94 percent of that are critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,350, followed by Chonburi with 1,352, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,259, Samut Prakan with 933, Samut Sakhon with 854, and Songkhla with 744.

A total number of 190,438 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 47,766 people had received their first shots, 17,043 people had received their second shots, and 125,629 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 79.9% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 72.3% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 34.1% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 23,843 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,656,726 cases with 3,380,920 recoveries and a total of 25,222 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
