Bangkok police were busier than ever after a large group of Thai and foreign tourists were gathered at Khaosan road for water splashing on the first day of the Songkran festival, challenging regulations of the Bangkok Communicable Disease Committee. About eight business venues were charged on the 13th alone after staging the splashing activities. However, such violations did not only occur in Bangkok as local residents in Phuket were also publicly gathering to illegally organize the celebration after several years of the event cancellation in order to, according to the Public Health Ministry, prevent Covid-19  Coronavirus.
