Thailand’s Tourism Authority to focus on attracting potential tourists from European countries to Koh Samui after ‘Test&Go’ cancellation

Koh Samui, Surat Thani –

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is preparing to attract potential tourists from European countries after the Thai government has relaxed the arrival measures for international tourists in May.

More than 30 leading travel agencies in Europe and tourism associations in Koh Samui joined TAT’s “Agent Trade Meet” activity Monday, April 25th, to present and discuss their promotions at several tourist attractions, hotels, and activities, to prepare for and draw more tourists next month.

Thitiporn Maneenet, TAT’s Director for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, said during the event that TAT believed that traveling to Thailand for international tourists would be significantly more convenient after the country would cancel its mandatory RT-PCR testing upon arrival in May for fully vaccinated visitors.

Therefore, TAT would inspect flights and accommodation bookings of foreigners traveling to Thailand during the summer which was a period of semester break in Europe. They would also be doing it during the winter later this year. Thitiporn also said that Koh Samui had the potential to attract tourists, especially the European market, with its health and wellness tourism.

The Director told the conference: “The easing requirements for entering the country in May would make it more convenient for tourists. There was a good response from tourists too after the announcement on Friday. It was a perfect time to introduce and bring tourism promotion activities back into the area of Koh Samui.”

“Today’s event was to introduce the tourism promotions from tourism sectors and entrepreneurs in Koh Samui to travel agencies for European tourists. And after this, there would be more potential tourists from many countries who visited Thailand,” The director concluded.
