Chiang Mai province —

A 35-year-old wanted murder suspect accused of killing a Thai couple in Taiwan surrendered to Chiang Mai province police yesterday, June 17th. The murdered wife was reportedly pregnant with five-month-old unborn twins.

Pol. Gen. Suwat Jangyodsuk, Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, and Mr. Ethan Y.H. Lin, Taiwan Police Ambassador, held a press conference yesterday, June 17th, to declare the arrest of Santi “Wang” Supa-apiradeepailin, a 35-year-old wanted suspect accused of the murder of a Thai couple in Taiwan.

He was arrested under the Criminal Court’s arrest warrant no. 1155/2565 issued on June 14th, 2022, for manslaughter.

According to reports, Wang turned himself in at Arunothai Village in the Mueang Na subdistrict of Chiang Dao district in Chaing Mai province after being pressed by law enforcement.

He allegedly murdered Prasert Norat, a 32-year-old Thai man, and Potjanee Sae Li, Prasert’s 35-year-old Thai wife, along with her five-month-old unborn twins in Taiwan before fleeing to his hometown in the Chiang Mai province.

According to Pol. Gen. Suwat Jangyodsuk, the suspect allegedly killed both victims at his office in Taiwan over a business conflict on June 8th. He concealed their bodies in their car’s trunk and abandoned it in a parking lot of a train station in the Taoyuan special municipality in north-western Taiwan. The bodies were reportedly discovered on June 10th while Wang had already left Taiwan for his hometown in Chiang Mai on June 9th via Suvarnabhumi Airport, the officer said.

However, Taiwanese law enforcement alerted Thai central investigation police to Wang’s alleged murder. The two departments then collaborated in pressuring Wang until he relented and surrendered himself on June 17th, accompanied by his father.
As of press time, Wang still denied the charge, claiming that the couple was pummelled to death by two men in masks who forced him to ditch the bodies at the train station, according to reports.

Pol. Gen. Suwat said that Wang could face more charges for allegedly murdering the wife with her five-month-old twins, but it needed a very cautious examination. He also said that Wang would be detained through tomorrow June 19th without further interrogation.
Mr. Ethan Y.H. Lin, Taiwan Police Ambassador, reportedly expressed his gratitude for Thai law enforcement’s swift response and cooperation.
