Bangkok –
Officials from the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) yesterday morning, June 29th, conducted a search at a house occupied by “Daruma” Japanese restaurant owner, Metha Charingsuk, who is now in police custody for fraud allegations.
The search followed a search warrant, issued by the Phra Khanong Provincial Court, to examine Metha’s residence at the Soi Seree Villa 2 in the Prawet District of Bangkok.
The restaurant owner was arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport and ordered detained without bail by the Thai Criminal Court last week after being accused of allegedly defrauding thousands of Daruma branch owners, employees, and customers, causing all 27 branches to shut down and damages worth more than 100 million baht in value.
Upon arrival, a Porche and a pickup truck were found parking inside the house. The search is still ongoing. As of press time it was not made immediately clear what law enforcement was looking for.
