National –
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha raised the slogan to promote National Alcohol-Free Day, which marked the start of the Buddhist Lent Day, today, July 14th.
The slogan, roughly translated, is “No Alcohol, No Disease, No Covid-19”, Deputy Government Spokesperson Traisulee Traisoranakul revealed this morning.
The Deputy Spokesperson added that the government also encouraged the public to refrain from drinking during the three-month Buddhist Lent, which will begin from July 14th onwards.
“There would be campaigning projects and activities from the government and relevant agencies throughout the Buddhist Lent period, aiming the public to reduce alcohol consumption. Moreover, the Alcohol Control Board Committee is preparing action plans and an alcohol draft bill to propose to the Cabinet,” Traisulee added.
