Thailand to purchase first 1,000 doses of Monkeypox vaccine, expected to arrive in late August

The Thai Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) is preparing to buy 1,000 doses of the Monkeypox vaccine for injection among health risk groups, expected to arrive by the end of August.

Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, Director-General of the Department of Disease Control, revealed on Monday, August 1st, that the Department has ordered the GPO to conduct the first lot of vaccine procurement.

According to the director-general, one person should receive two doses. The medical experts would determine which groups or people should receive the vaccination based on four factors: Efficiency, Side effects, Epidemic situation, and the Possibility of providing an injection.

“The purchased Monkeypox vaccine is the third generation and is expected to arrive in Thailand by the end of August,” Dr. Opas added.
