Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will not attend the APEC summit in Bangkok after he tested positive for Covid-19.
The Cambodian PM is being taken care of at a hospital in Indonesia where he went for the G20 summit, said Nuttaphan Noppakhun, deputy spokesman of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Before being aware of his infection with Covid-19, Hun Sen had been hosting a lot of world leaders including US President Joe Biden and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan O’Cha at a summit in Phnom Penh. The White House said Biden tested negative on Tuesday and did not get into close contact with Hun Sen. Prayut also said he was negative and would host APEC as normal.
The spokesman of Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was a shame that the Cambodian premier will not be able to attend the APEC summit on November 18th and 19th in person. However, the Cambodian PM will still send his representatives to represent him at the meeting.
