Thai Police released 25 Stop-APEC protestors after violent clashes on Bangkok’s Din Sor Road over the weekend. One of them had to go through surgery after reportedly getting shot in the eye.

The protestors were arrested after they tried to march to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center where the APEC summit 2022 was taking place on Friday and Saturday, November 18th and 19th.

In total, 25 protestors were arrested and released on bail under conditions around midnight today, November 20th. The conditions were that the protestors could not attend a political gathering while on bail and could not invite others to gather to commit harm to the nation.

One protestor was undergoing an eye operation at Police Hospital after he reportedly got shot in the eye. Reports said he would likely lose sight in one eye.

Ms. Patsaravalee “Mind” Tanakitvibulpon, one of the leaders of the Stop-APEC Ratsadon group, stated it was a success that all arrested protestors were released. She vowed she would seek legal action against high and low-ranking officers involved in the clash and injuries of the protestors, adding the crackdown was unlawful and against international standards, according to her.
