Krabi –
Three Chinese men have been rescued after a sailboat broke down from strong winds near an island in Krabi.
The Krabi Marine Police told the Phuket Express that on Saturday (January 28th) they were notified that a mast and engine of a sailboat were broken. The sailboat was floating near the Fourth Island (Koh See).
They went out to the location where they found the sailboat named ‘Suntess’. The boat’s mast was broken. The Krabi Marine Police told the Phuket Express that the sailboat had been registered in China. Three male Chinese were found which were Mr. Mu Zezhi, 47, the boat captain, Mr. Jing Peng, 38, and Mr. Mu Deng, 47.
The three Chinese men went out from a marina in the Pak Nam sub-district to visit nearby islands. While they were heading back to the marina there were strong winds which caused their mast to be broken and hit the boat engine as well. The engine was broken before the three men called the Krabi Marine Police.
They were all wearing life jackets. No one was injured. The anchor was dropped while waiting for the sailboat to be pulled back later, the Krabi Marine Police told the Phuket Express.
