Smoke and fire came out from the right side of a plane while it was taking off at Phuket International Airport over the past weekend.
Phuket International Airport has issued an announcement stating, “At 5:00 P.M. on Saturday (February 4th) the AZURAIR Airlines flight number ZF3604 was taking off on a flight to Moscow in Russia.”
“The Air Traffic Controller saw some smoke coming out from the right side of the plane. The captain was contacted before the plane aborted the takeoff. The plane immediately braked which caused the right wheel system to malfunction and the wheel to break.”
“It took about 40 minutes for the plane to be removed from the runway. The plane was on the taxiway which was blocking other planes. The AZURAIR plane was removed from the taxiway at 0:30 A.M. on Sunday (February 5th).”
“In total 16 flights have been affected. Some flights were delayed while some flights had to land at Krabi International Airport and Suvarnabhumi International Airport.”
“Phuket International Airport is investigating the incident for safety and better management to reach international standard. We apologize for the incident.”
