A Chinese Vice Consul is in Phuket to meet with the Phuket Governor after a Chinese tourist was attacked with a knife by a tour staffer in Phuket, following a dispute over a refund.

A tour staffer has been charged with bodily harm causing injury and carrying a knife in public.
Now for the update:
Today (February 7th) the Chinese Vice Consul arrived in Phuket to meet with the Phuket Governor Naroong Woonciew.
Governor Naroong apologized for the incident and updated the Vice Consul about legal actions that are being taken against the tour staffer. A police report has also been filed against the tour company over the incident and further legal charges are forthcoming, according to the Governor.
The Chinese Vice Consul Mr. Li Chenglong stated to the Governor and the Thai media, “We are satisfied with the quick conclusion to this incident by authorities and thank relevant Phuket agencies and leaders that immediately followed up on the issue. We believe that this incident does not affect the good relationship between the Thai and Chinese people.”
“However, this should an example to prevent a similar type of incident happening with Chinese tourists or for that matter any other tourists in the future,” The Vice Consul continued.
“We have paid attention to all Chinese tourists who are visiting Phuket and Thailand. We expect that all Chinese tourists in Thailand will be safe and happy in visiting Phuket and other attractions and areas and want to come back again.” The Vice Consul concluded.
