Trailer Truck Plunges From Bangkok Overpass, One Person Dead

Bangkok —

A trailer truck on Thursday accidentally plunged from an elevated road in Bangkok and crushed the driver to his death.

On March 23rd, at around 2:30 PM, the Highway Police received a report of a container truck accident that had fallen from the Thap Chang overpass, connecting Motorway Route 9 in the Prawet District of Bangkok.

The truck had overturned and blocked the railway line between the Thap Chang and Lat Krabang train stations. Rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the scene to assist the unnamed injured driver of the truck. However, their efforts were unsuccessful, and the driver tragically passed away at the scene before being transported to the police forensic hospital.

Later, the Highway Police Station 2, along with eight other units of the Highway Police force, jointly attempted to clear the truck off the railway line. However, due to the large size of the container truck and the substantial amount of clothes inside the container, the process of removing the wreckage went by with difficulties and challenges.Highway Police Station 2 stated that they had reviewed CCTV footage of the accident and found that the driver was not speedy. The officers are currently looking into the cause of the accident to prevent possible future reoccurrence.
