A Polish man was arrested near a Thai border in Sa Kaeo after he allegedly killed and dismembered a Ukrainian woman at a condominium in Bang Kho Laem.
The Polish suspect allegedly asked a taxi car driver to help him dismember his girlfriend’s body but the taxi driver refused.
Our previous story:
At 11:00 P.M., on Monday (May 15th) 2023, the suspect was arrested attempting to cross the border legally at the Ban Khlong Luek border checkpoint, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province. He remains in custody and under interrogation as of press time.
Now for some updates:
The Wat Phraya Krai Police Chief Colonel Wathit Rojanapaitoon told TPN media investigators questioned a taxi car driver identified only by his first name, Mr. Surachai, 56. Surachai said he picked up the Polish man near the condominium and they communicated via Google Translate.
The suspect told the taxi driver that he wanted to go to a casino but he did not know where one was. The taxi driver agreed to bring the suspect to the Cambodia border, however, as gambling is illegal in Thailand but not in Cambodia.
Shortly into the trip, the suspect used Google Translate again to ask the taxi driver to return to his condo and help him dismember and remove his now dead girlfriend’s body. He offered 1,500 baht to the taxi driver to assist with the grisly task. The driver refused.
The taxi driver, Surachai, then left the Polish passenger near a hotel in Sathorn before going back to the condominium to tell staffers who had already been made suspicious by the suspect’s behavior and lack of being accompanied by the woman who had been with him nearly every moment for two weeks.
The suspect managed to get another taxi to the Cambodian border.
As of press time, the motive for the alleged murder or a statement from the suspect had not been made available to the Thai press.
This isn’t the first shocking incident involving Polish nationals in Thailand as just last December two Polish men were accused of brutally kidnapping and beating a woman in Pattaya. The men later managed to flee Thailand.
