The Thailand Football Association (FA) will be fined 2.4 million baht after football fans set off flares at a beach soccer tournament game in Pattaya.
The Asia Football Confederation (AFC) has ordered the fine to the Thailand Football Association (FA) for 70,000 US dollars which is 2.4 million baht. A group of football fans broke the rules by setting off fireworks and flares during beach soccer games in March of this year which was hosted by Thailand at Pattaya Beach. The list of offenses is below:
- First time in the game between Thailand and Saudi Arabia on March 16th fined 15,000 dollars.
- Second time in the game between Thailand and Afghanistan on March 18th fined 15,000 dollars.
- Third time in the game between Thailand and Bahrain on March 20th fined 25,000 dollars
- The fourth time in the game between Thailand and United Arab Immigrates on March 22nd fined 15,000 dollars.
Mr. Adisak Benjasiriwan the president of the FA and the president of beach soccer said to the press, “Football fans should be more concerned about following the rules. Every time that we break rules is not good for Thailand. We have taken serious concern about these violations. We might not be allowed to host any games like this in the future due to the offensive behavior of some fans. Football fans should understand and realize how much damage they have caused to the potential future.”
