Belgian Man Shoots and Kills Himself at Public Shooting Range in Phuket

Rawai –

A Belgian man has shot himself to death at a shooting range in Rawai.

The Chalong Police were notified of the incident on Tuesday (June 13th) afternoon at a shooting range in Saiyuan. Police, emergency responders and the Phuket Express arrived at the shooting range to find the body of a foreign man who was identified by police as Mr. Christ, 52, Belgian national. His full name was withheld pending embassy and family contact. A single bullet wound was found on his head and near his body was a handgun.

Staffers at the shooting range told police that the foreigner said he wanted to practice shooting and paid the normal range fee. He was at the shooting block and he fired one shot at the target before he turned the gun onto himself too suddenly for anyone to stop him. Police found that the foreigner stayed in Phuket and was an ex-pat as he had a motorbike driving license and other local documentation.

The name of the range was withheld pending a further police investigation.
