Phuket Police Search for Gunman who Fired Gunshots at Lottery Shop in Broad Daylight

Phuket –

A lottery shop in Phuket Town has been threatened by an unidentified gunman firing bullets through the shop window in broad daylight.

The Phuket City Police were notified of the incident at 8:00 A.M. on Thursday (June 29th) at a lottery shop near the Kaset Market (Public Fresh Market 2) in Talad Yai, Phuket Town. They went to the scene to find four bullet holes in the glass shop window.

The shop caretaker, whose name was withheld by police for their safety, said three days before there was a man trying to forcefully open the shop’s door. He said he wanted to meet her son who was not there at that time, causing the man to leave without a confrontation. This morning, June 29th, she saw the same man again before he opened fire into the shop and sped away. Luckily, nobody was injured.

She believed this may be because her son borrowed money, an amount slightly more than 3,000 baht, from the man but her son said his girlfriend had already transferred the owed money back to the man. However she does not know any more specific details between the two parties and her son was not present at the time of the investigation.

The Phuket City Police are checking CCTV footage to find the gunman. They are also planning to speak with the son of the shop owner to determine the exact motive for the crime, stating that the act was repulsive and in a well populated area during the morning rush hour.
