Thailand’s former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra plans to return home to Thailand from Dubai on August 10th, according to his daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
Paetongtarn revealed in a social media post that Thaksin would arrive at the Don Mueang International Airport on August 10th.
She wrote: “On my dad’s birthday abroad, I missed being with him only twice because of my duties in Thailand…My heart, as well as the hearts of everyone in our family, feels both joyful and concerned (about my dad’s return). However, I always respect my dad’s decisions. I wish him good health and safety. (If he is here) he will be able to accompany his grandchildren to school, just as he intended. May all the good deeds be with my dad, as he has always been kind to everyone. Love you the most in the world.”
Paetongtarn went on to say that: “For my friends who read this far, my dad is a Thai man, a renowned leader known for his remarkable accomplishments and enduring struggles. His decision to return home this time is something he has genuinely spoken about since early 2022…”
This is one of the few times that Thaksin has set a precise date for his return. His previous comeback promise could be traced back to May 2023, when he announced, but later postponed, that he would come back on July 26th – his birthday – to care for his grandchildren.
It remains to be seen if this date will be kept, notes TPN.
